If you are an agent or crawler hitting the census API, send a clear User-Agent and optional X-Census-Client: your-product/1.0 (+https://yoursite). We keep aggregate labels only (who depends on the census), not end-user profiles. Full etiquette: llms.txt.

Abuse controls: anonymous 10 unique lookups/day per IP; signed-in accounts spend token credits (250/month free grant). Repeating the same query the same UTC day does not spend a credit. Empty wallet is 402. Scrapes get 429 with Retry-After. Prices: /pricing.
