## What each one does

Smithery’s homepage on 15 October 2026 said it connects agents to thousands of tools and services, and that it handles auth, credentials, and sessions.

Their privacy notice (last updated 20 June 2025) names Clavia, Inc., doing business as Smithery. Their about page names Henry Mao, co-founder and CEO, and Anirudh Kamath, co-founder. Arcade.dev’s post of 5 August 2026 says Arcade acquired Smithery. smithery.ai was still the public site on the check date.

Their docs describe local and remote servers, and deployed servers hosted on Smithery infrastructure. Their registry search docs say a Smithery API key is required.

The Census does not host Smithery servers and does not store third-party credentials. It returns PASS, REVIEW, BLOCK, or UNKNOWN from public evidence.

Use Smithery to find a server and connect an agent. Use the Census for a named policy before install. A listing is not a PASS. A PASS is not a statement that a Smithery connection is safe.
